Celem’s history
Celem was founded in France in 1963 by Albert Jakoubovitch, a visionary inventor and the creator of the aperiodic generator, with a bold mission: to reinvent the power capacitor. Through out-of-the-box thinking, Albert pioneered the development of conduction-cooled capacitors, introducing a compact, high-power alternative to the bulky, limited solutions of the time. This spirit of innovation laid the foundation for decades of disruptive technologies that have continuously reshaped the industry.
In 2002, Celem was brought to Israel by Albert’s son, Benjamin Jakoubovitch, who relocated the company to the High-Tech Village at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. This move fostered a long-standing collaboration with academic research units and enabled the company to grow in both scope and capability. In 2025, Celem transitioned into a new, tailor-made facility in proximity to the same campus, designed to optimize production processes and double its R&D and manufacturing capacity while continuing its close cooperation with the university.
Celem’s R&D efforts have been led for many years by Dr. Anat Jakoubovitch, continuing the family tradition of innovation and excellence. As a family-owned company, we bring not only technical expertise but also deep personal commitment to everything we do. This dedication drives us to deliver high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective capacitor solutions, built to meet the most demanding applications, now and into the future.
At the heart of Celem is a team of exceptionally skilled and dedicated employees, many of whom have been with us for years. Their loyalty, craftsmanship, and attention to detail reflect not only their professional excellence but also the unique work culture we’ve built where people take pride in what they do and truly care about the company and the capacitors we create. It’s this shared commitment that powers our success and continues to move Celem forward.
